As the first womens game of the season commenced, we travelled to Denby, for the National T20 Knock Out. As we won the toss our Captain (Molly S) decided for us to batt first and put Denby into field. We had two players from the girls team who where playing in their first women match of the year, congratulations to Jayde and Urvi.
Molly and Sarah P opened the batting creating a steady start for the team, with Molly hitting a boundary 4 along with bagging many singles. With both pairs being run out trying to push for 2 and both scoring in the 20s. Jayde and Isobel went into bat and they were both looking to move the score forward. Our total score at the end of the innings was 109 for 4.
When Sileby where put into field, Isobel opened bowling and took 2 wickets along with bowling accurately. Urvi also took a wicket which enabled Sileby to keep Denby on their toes. In addition to this many of the other bowlers kept the extras down, with Sarah Jane taking the keeping gloves and an outstanding performance was presented. As a team our fielding was consistent and kept putting pressure on the batting pair. Overall, we put a good performance out against Denby even though we lost with 5 overs to go. Next weekend we travel back to Denby, for our first match of Supers 8 and play Denby along with Countesthorpe.
