Nancy Ellis got her season off to a roaring start as she claimed a maiden five-wicket haul during the Super 8s win over Nassington on Sunday.

The young seam bowler clean bowled all of her victims on her way to figures of 5-7 as their hosts were resitricted to 51 runs but lost 15 wickets in the process.

Another of the Ladies young guns, Hannah Toyne, also had a good outing as she claimed 4-15 during the Nassington innings.

Only two wickets went down in our reply as we posted 91 for 2, to post a net score of 282 compared to Nassington's 176 - giving us a 106 run victory.

The pair picked up a wicket each during the other outing from the round-robin format where they lost out by 10 runs to Houghton & Thurnby.

Megan Stanier picked up 2-6 as Houghton were restricted to 56 for 5, with a net score of 231, while wickets fell at regular intervals as we lost nine wickets for 66 runs, giving us a net score of 221.

The other game from Sunday, the Sunday XI game away at Buckminster & Barrowby in the Grantham & Melton League, was abandoned without a ball being bowled with both sides getting eight points.
