There were defeats for the fours and the Ladies while the elements put pay to any play at Mill Lane on Saturday.

The Fours suffered a setback in their quest for promotion from Division 8 East with a four run reverse at the hands of promotion rivals Queniborough 3s.

Having put the home side in on a sodden deck Sileby picked up wickets at regular intervals with Pat Dudley, once again, to the fore with 4-22 to finish with 22 wickets for the season from just six games - a brilliant return.

A late flurry of runs as Sileby's fielding slipped helped the home side post 119 for 8 from their 40 overs.

Matt Houghton was the backbone of the Sileby reply as he helped his side recover from the loss of three early wickets with his 39 proving critical to Sileby's hopes.

However, a rash of poor shots saw wickets fall regularly and despite the last pair of Archie Bates (8 not out) and Dave King (3) inching their side towards their target, another poor shot - this time from King, put the final nail in Sileby's coffin, in this game at least, as they finished four runs short on 115.

The Ladies lost out in their two qualifying matches at the Kia Supersmash festival at Caythorpe. The Ladies played Market Overton Ladies twice and came up short on both occasions.

Due to the sodden outfields at Mill Lane, their WML match against Plumtree on Sunday is off, as is the Sunday XI game against Bingham.

The 2s and 3s matches against Kirby Muxloe and Hinckley Amateur respectively were also off on Saturday as the rain from earlier in the week took its toll on the outfield. Here's hoping for better weather this week!
