Our very own Chris Preston is clocking up the miles in preparation for the 2026 TCS London Marathon
Not content with project managing the pavilion extension, prepping for the season ahead as bar manager, leading on our partnership agreement with Leicestershire & Rutland Cricket Board and having been the coordinator for the 2025 fireworks display (all on his own time) he's also been able to juggle a day job and training for the marathon to boot.
Chris is no stranger to fundraising running and is once again raising much needed funds for Crohn's and Colitis UK.
Crohn's disease is an issue that's very important to Chris, with his partner Lauren Ellis (who is part of our Women's playing group and lead for our Women and Girls section) having been diagnosed in 2012.
"Lauren, as many with Crohn's disease do, has lived through years of severe illness, repeated hospital admissions, major surgery, and ongoing complications that most people will never see or fully understand," Chris told us.
"There is currently no cure for Crohn’s disease, and too many people spend years cycling through treatments that don’t work. Research is the only way this changes."
Chris is aiming to raise £2,500 from his run and is looking for as much support as possible.
Everyone at the club wishes him all the best for the rest of his training and the race itself.
