The seven-year-old suffers from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and his family are fundraising for a new wheelchair so he can continue to enjoy life

The cheeky youngster, who is grandson of former Club Secretary and current Life Member Alan Parker and nephew of club member Ian Parker, suffers from the rare muscle-wasting condition, of which there is no current cure.

Covid-19 has proved more difficult for Rhys and his family than it has for most people - lockdown has limited how much time he's been able to get out and about and sadly, Rhys' mobility has declined rapidly during the year.

With the winter months now set in and muddy, wet ground being the norm, it is becoming increasingly more difficult for Rhys' family as the manual NHS wheelchair is more difficult to push and steer in the wetter, muddy winter conditions leading them to look to raise £15,000 for an all terrain wheelchair to help give Rhys greater mobility and allow him to have fun and experience new things.

Rhys' dad, Graham, has set up a Go Fund Me page to help the family raise funds.

Sileby Town is no stranger to Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, with the club supporting Alex's Wish in previous years and the club will be discussing ways we can help support Rhys' fundraising goal in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, if any members or supporters wish to make a donation they can do so through Rhys' Go Fund Me page. All donations will be greatly appreciated.
