It was a tough weekend in the Leicestershire & Rutland League but the Ladies and Sunday XI both recorded wins.

The Ladies picked up a comfortable win in their first outing in the East Midlands Women's Cricket League as they saw off Ockbrook and Borrowash Ladies by seven wickets at the Richard Davison Ground.

With the home side batting first they struggled as the Sileby bowlers took regular wickets with Teagan Broughton the most successful with 3-29 while there were two wickets apiece of Beth Allcock (2-8) and Chesney Wilken (2-9). Ockbrook were dismissed for 71 inside 22 overs with their skipper Natalie Wheat top scoring with 23.

Beth Black led the charge with an unbeaten run-a-ball 38, including eight fours, as they chased down their target in the 13th over.

With the Sunday XI's opponents, Sproxton, pulling out of the Grantham League they had a hastily arranged friendly with Long Whatton in their warm up for the start of the Grantham League season next weekend.

The home side batted first and were bowled out for 71 inside 27 overs with John Scrivens top scoring with 23 while Albert Blay picked up figures of 3-1 and there was a brace of wickets each for George Bolton (2-2), Thomas Blay (2-6) and Nick Lewin (2-19).

Chris Preston struck 51 from 38 balls (seven fours, three maximums), Nathan Preston 47 from 65 balls (seven fours) and Bolton an unbeaten 39 from 28 balls (also seven fours) as the Sunday XI batted for 30 overs - amassing 192 for 5.

Saturday was a different story though, however, as all four of our sides were on the receiving end of heavy defeats in the Leicestershire & Rutland League.

A century from Charles Page-Morris helped Kibworth to 300 for 7 at Mill Lane with former Leicestershire man Aadil Ali adding 55 and Northamptonshire's Josh Cobb 41.

It was some recovery from 134 for 5 as Page-Morris and skipper Darren Shaw posted 162 for the sixth wicket.

Amongst the carnage, Kieran Chance was the pick of the Sileby attack as he picked up 1-25 from his ten overs.

Dave Torr posted 52 in reply and Jake Gillett 30 but they were offered scant support as the 1s were bowled out for 132 with 15 overs still available to lose by 168 runs.

Pete Willcocks ploughed a lone furrow for the 2s as his 50 from 98 balls and 49 extras made the lions share of their disappointing 124 all out at Houghton & Thurnby.

Ben Silver notched 71 for the home side as they chased down the target in the 28th over. Jacob Smith picked up 2-46 while there was a wicket apiece for Thomas Blay (1-21) and skipper Steven Ingram (1-29).

Wicketkeeper Richard Preston top scored for the Thirds in their home date with Great Glen. He made 40 while youngster Joe Davies made 37 at the top of the innings as they posted a below par 172 for 9 from their 40 overs.

Nathan Preston claimed 2-27 as the visitors chased down their target with the loss of three wickets in the 36th over.

Ben Ashford top scored for the Fours on his senior debut for Sileby as the junior lashed seven fours and three sixes in a 38-ball 62. Despite his attacking effort, the Fours fell short of Kibworth 4s total of 220, which was built around 93 from Tim Stimpson and 45 from 17 balls from skipper Steve Matthew.

Things started well with Stephen Loveridge and Sam Davies adding 31 for the first wicket before both fell in quick succession. Ashford and Josh Cundy (25) added 93 for the fourth wicket and at drinks, the Fours were still in the hunt.

However, Ashford's dismissal had a domino effect as the last six wickets fell for 17 runs with the fours being bowled out for 153 in the 33rd over.
