Marais makes good start to 4-day final

Our 2026 overseas player Dewan Marais has made a good start to the Division Two final for Easterns as they finished day one in Bloemfontein.

The right hander closed the day unbeaten on 46 with his Easterns side 224 for 7 at stumps against the Knights. 

Marais' patient knock has contained only three boundaries and has come from 131 balls and has so far shared an unbroken stand of 51 with number nine Jesse Albanie (25 not out) to take them to stumps. 

The winner of this clash will achieve promotion to Division One. 

We have ties to both franchises with the Knights counting former Viking overseas player Andries Gous amongst their alumni.
