Marais signs on as overseas player for 2026

We're delighted to be welcoming 21-year-old South African Dewan Marais as our overseas player for the coming season.

The Johannesburg native, who is a former Under 19 international for his country, has five First Class matches under his belt for the Easterns franchise as well as 13 List A games and 24 T20 matches for Easterns while also being contracted to Paarl Royals. 

The destructive right-handed batter will arrive at Mill Lane ahead of the start of the L&RCL season. 

Club skipper Josh Winterton expressed his delight at being able to secure a player of Dewan' quality: "I'm delighted that Dewan has chosen to come and play for us this summer - to be able to attract a player of his quality is really pleasing and shows our continued ambition. I'm looking forward to welcoming him to the club and having spoken with him quite a bit over the last month or so I've no doubt he'll fit in brilliantly at Mill Lane."

As well as playing, Dewan will be helping with coaching during the season with both the group and one-on-one sessions. 

Following agreeing to join us Dewan said: "I'm extremely excited to join Sileby Town and I can't wait to get there and meet my new team mates. 

"I'll always give 110% and will be a great team mate and make new friendships with everyone. I can't wait to get started."

Dewan will be the seventh South African to represent the club, with the most recent being Andries Gous who has gone on to forge an international career with the USA and also on the T20 franchise circuit.
