The Midweek XI completed the the LCA Evening League and Cup double with a win over neighbours Barrow Town in the Joe Orton Cup final.

Things were relatively even going into the third innings of the match with us having set 147 for 8 in the first innings thanks to Ajay Khunti's 63 and Barrow eeking out a slim 12-run advantage, thanks to Sandeep Salgotra's 59 as they posted 159 for 6.

The third innings then became critical as Sileby looked to post a winning total. Greg Willows and Khunti posted 76 for the first wicket, with Khunti making 34 from 25 balls (two fours, two sixes.)

His dismissal prompted the afterburners to be lit as Willows and Liam Kinch rocketed along posting 118 in ten overs to see their side through to 194 for 1 - setting an imposing target of 183.

Willows finished unbeaten on 90 from 57 balls with eight fours and two sixes, passing 2,000 runs for the season, while Kinch finished unbeaten 53 from 26 balls with five fours and four maximums.

The early loss of Tim Taylor (3) didn't help Barrow's cause and that was soon followed by Pintu Patel (6), dismissed by Nathan Preston (1-18) and Thomas Blay (1-32) respectively and with two of their top order in the hutch with over 140 still needed, things were looking tough.

Salgotra followed in the same vein in the second innings, peppering the boundary regularly, but his dismissal for 53 from 26 balls, with the score on 67 seemed to put the final nail in the Barrow coffin.

However, they fought on with Janak Valand to the fore. Wickets were falling regularly at the other end but the visitors were somehow keeping themselves in touch thanks to the former Hinckley Town all rounder.

Heading into the final over there were 24 runs needed but with just one wicket remaining -it took only one ball to finish things with Kieran Chance (3-19) dismissing Valand for a valiant 52 to seal the league and cup double for Josh Winterton's side.
