Pavilion extension gets underway

Pavilion extension gets underway

Website Administrator30 May - 13:50

We're delighted to confirm that we've broken ground on the new extension to the main pavilion at Mill Lane.

Standing still is not something that we've been prepared to do over the last 30 or so years and 2025 marks the beginning in the next evolution of Mill Lane, our home for the last 80 plus years.

Thanks to a huge amount of hard work from a small group of volunteers, we're moving ahead with the next phase of the redevelopment of the main pavilion with the addition of a third changing area, redevelopment of the existing home and away changing areas with new showers and toilet facilities, extra storage space, a state of the art commercial kitchen as well as a disabled toilet facility and expanded men's and women's toilets.

The expansion will moving out onto the car park area at the rear of the main pavilion with work already underway to dig out the footings of the new building footprint.

Our progress has been possible thanks to grants, money raised through our own fundraising and events and funds from the Sileby section 106 fund and has been made possible thanks to our fantastic, dedicated volunteers.

We've engaged with a local contractor to carry out the work and planning permission has already been granted, which means we're able to begin working on the latest exciting chapter of our home right away.

With the footings being dug out, access to the car park behind the pavilion will be hugely restricted with all players, umpires, scorers and visitors asked to use the main grass car park on Mountsorrel Lane.

Our aim is for this first phase of the redevelopment to be ready by September of this year, with the final fittings of the kitchen and other areas coming as part of phase two over the autumn and winter months so that the pavilion is ready for the start of the 2026 season.

Our commitment has always been to push forwards with improving our facilities for current and future generations and the fund raising that we do via events and direct fund raising show why it's so important to support these activities so that we can all benefit in the longer term.

Events like the Classic Car Show, music nights and our iconic bonfire nights need your support - don't leave it to someone else.
