Their record in finals is always one of doing things the hard way and the two wicket win against a spirited Blaby Village side came amid a backdrop of the bowlers having it nearly all their own way.

Winning the toss and bowling first was crucial for Danny Hill's side with wickets falling regularly after an early break for rain.

Only Paul Warrington showed any real resistance for Blaby with a typically attacking 45 as the visitors were dismissed for 122, albeit only nine wickets down following Ryan Blick having to retire hurt after being struck on the head. We wish Ryan all the best in his recovery.

Chris Preston led the Sileby attack expertly and claimed 3-25 while there was a brace of wickets each for Bhurva Tank (2-15) and Nathan Preston (2-18).

Blick's injury wasn't the only one on the day with Connor Simon having to initially retire hurt with a hamstring injury. He would later return and add 22 with George Bolton, who added to his 1-44 with a match winning knock of 34 with the bat.

Simon's dismissal at 75 for 7 seemed to have put Sileby's four season unbeaten run in the competition under serious threat. However, Bolton showed calmness and was joined at the crease by Tom Grainger and the pair set about repairing the wreckage of their sides batting effort as the Blaby bowlers turned the screw.

The pair did a stunning job as they inched their way towards the winning line with Bolton picking up five boundaries as the pair posted 42 in six overs before Bolton was stumped off Steve Coddington with six runs needed.

Having done all of the hard work to get in sight of victory they weren't going to be denied and Chris Preston (6 not out) hit the winning boundary from the final ball of the penultimate over to start rapturous scenes at Mill Lane.

Grainger's unbeaten 14 was crucial in the final analysis as Blaby follow in the footsteps of Asian Sports, Fatana and City Cricketers in falling at the final hurdle.
