A huge 89-run win over local rivals Barrow Town has sealed a return to Grace Road in the County Cup final.

A fifth century of the season from Greg Willows and fifties from Ajay Khunti and skipper Jake Gillett helped the 1s rack up a formidable total as they closed on 298 for 3 from their 40 overs.

Willows' 109 came from only 88 balls and included 11 fours and one maximum as he shared in stands of 134 with Gillett and 80 with Khunti.

The vice-captain's unbeaten 78 came from 50 balls and contained four boundary fours and four sixes while Gillett helped set the platform with a 73-ball knock of 64.

Khunti helped push the score on and added an unbroken 55 for the fourth wicket with Liam Kinch (23 not out from 12 balls) to put their side within touching distance of the 300 mark.

Barrow's reply started swiftly with Gillett and Thomas Blay suffering early on, but three quick wickets checked the momentum of the home side and took the wind out of their sails allowing the Sileby bowlers to peg things back.

Blay kept his nerve and recovered from the early onslaught to finish with 2-59 and he set the tone for the rest of the Sileby spinners who bagged seven of the ten wickets to fall.

Kieran Chance came away with the best figures with 1-28 from his 8 overs while Kinch (2-15) and Khunti (2-37) bagged a brace apiece. Wicketkeeper Josh Winterton also picked up a brace of stumpings as well as a catch as good reward for his day spent mostly up to the stumps.

Ryan Dawson's nagging medium pace (2-41) accounted for the only two wickets taken by seam while Micky Ruddle added a run out of top scorer Pintu Patel (40) with the home side falling well short on 209.

The showpiece final, which rounds off the Leicestershire & Rutland League season, sees us face Syston Town at Grace Road on 18 September with a midday start.

Chairman Nigel Kinch was looking for a repeat atmosphere from our previous two visits: "This is a fantastic day for the Club and it'll be great to see our members out in force to support the team in a brilliant showpiece final."
