An absolutely fantastic performance from our Women's Indoor squad, as we secured a thoroughly dominant 141-20 victory over Bharat Sports.
The result saw us sweep the board, claiming all four skins and a maximum 7 points in a match where everything clicked perfectly into place.
?Our opening batting pair set the tone right from the very first delivery. Tessa Preston and Lauren Ellis were in scintillating form, matching each other blow for blow to both finish with exactly 28 runs. They piled on an impressive 56 runs in their four overs, putting us firmly in control of the first skin and leaving Bharat Sports with a mountain to climb immediately.
?The momentum carried straight through to our second pairing. Jayde Patterson kept the scoreboard ticking beautifully with 18 runs, supported by Mya Majitha-Mistry, ensuring we edged out a tightly contested second skin 23-18.
?Beth Black and Caitlin Claasz then stepped into the nets to maintain our relentless pressure. Claaszs quick-fire 17 alongside Black's 6 helped us comfortably take the third skin 23-7, completely extinguishing any lingering hopes of a Bharat comeback.
?Our final pair closed out the batting innings in spectacular fashion. Sophie Kay unleashed a barrage of shots to top score for the match with a brilliant 30, while Molly Satterthwaite chipped in with a handy 9. Together, they amassed 39 runs for the final skin, putting our total completely out of reach.
?If our batting was impressive, our bowling and fielding matches it as the pressure we applied completely suffocated the Bharat batters, resulting in a staggering number of wickets and negative run totals across the board.
?Kay was rightly named Player of the Match, backing up her superb batting with jaw-dropping bowling figures. In her two overs, she remarkably conceded minus 13 runs while taking 5 wickets.
?Not to be outdone, Black delivered a similarly devastating spell. She tore through the Bharat lineup, finishing her two overs with 5 wickets for minus 18 runs, giving the batters absolutely nothing to work with.
?Tessa Preston also caused absolute chaos with the ball, picking up 4 wickets for minus 3 runs. The sheer volume of wickets meant Bharat's score kept tumbling backwards, particularly in the final skin where our fielding restricted them to minus 15.
?Every single player contributed to a fielding effort that was sharp, energetic, and completely ruthless. Patterson, Claasz, and Satterthwaite all grabbed multiple wickets to ensure there was absolutely no respite for the opposition.
?It was the perfect all-round performance, blending aggressive batting with suffocating bowling. We will certainly be looking to carry this momentum into our next indoor fixtures.
